Culture | Japan's Toilennale is like the Venice Biennale, but for toilets

This candy colored public toilet provides a very unique experience for it's "customers". Designed to look like a giant dessert, the public toilet house was created for the Toilennale exhibition in Oita, Japan. It's basically an art instillation that welcomes viewers to come inside and relieve themselves.

The well-named Toilennale happens every two years and features 16 artists who transform 16 public restrooms into extremely unique art instillation's.This "Melting Dream" piece was created by Minako Nishiyama, Mika Kasahara, and Yuma Haruna. It serves as more than just a weirdly sweet toilet experience. It also has a point to make.“The concept of the piece is that Japan, the sweet country of ambiguity, is beginning to crumble,” says Nishiyama, referring to the Fukushima nuclear incident 4 years ago. The next Toilennale is scheduled for 2017.
